The olive tree in Morocco

In Morocco olive covers an area of 933,475 hectares and produces 1,500,000 tons of fresh olives. Production of table olives industry (90,000 to 100,000 tonnes per year), is oriented 60 to 70% for export. In 2020, the Green Morocco Plan plans to increase the area planted with olive 1,200,000 ha.

The main variety is transformed "Picholine marocaine", which represents 90% of the national olive heritage.

Moroccan exports of table olives are mainly focused on the European market (70% of the quantities exported, 49% to France). The U.S. market ranks second, accounting for almost 23% of Moroccan exports in these products.
